Davidson Orchards

Lovely farm in vernon- we met my mom there yesterday. We went on a tractor ride, picked apples, fed goats, bought the most delicious apple juice in the world. Afterwards, we had a picnic at the Lake and Elliott went swimming! First day of fall freezing!

Baby Elias

Last night glen and I found the memorial bench for baby Elias, the little boy of my good friend who died a year ago. It is in a beautiful spot and last night a peaceful place to reflect on life.

august weekends

As summer comes to a close, I think about all the fun weekends we had. Elliott will be off for a while longer due to the strike, but he doesn't seem to mind.   And now as we move into Fall- we have lots to look forward to.

We went to a cabin on Okanagan Lake and Elliott had a whole bunch of firsts- paddling a kayak on his own, swimming under the water in the lake (he is definitely a pool kid), and sleeping on the top bunk of bunk beds.

Bear Point

Very likely one of the most beautiful places on Malcom Island. We saw 6 people today (which is a lot) and it might be because it is so beautiful out and generally a nice summer here (20, breezy and sunny. Who could complain?). The kids loved it too and have so much to-do. We have yet to see a whale there, but today we watched salmon leaping out of the water. 

all alone

Being alone in my house feels like a bit of heaven. The boys are camping (finny's first time) and i've had a 'day off.' we are camping for a few days at the end of our summer holiday, so also thankful glen is breaking finn into it. Elliott of course loves it. I just registered him for Scouts :)

weather

A boring topic but today it was important because it was 36 degrees. HOT! Finn and I cooled off with a freezie and a swim at our outdoor pool (elliott is in kelowna this week and cooling off the pool and lake many time each day!)

summer kick-off

Very fun extra-long weekend in Kelowna with my family and the Gillis family. Was pretty great that their eldest daughter and Elliott totally hit it off and spent all their time with each other. Funny how life has evolved.... we use to spend our time together taking wine tours and last weekend we chased toddlers at beach and prepared endless snacks...

So even though this happened while Liz was visiting I had to make a separate post. Elliott finished hi first triathlon!!! And he was an amazing trooper. We were so proud and he had fun. Next year I might even organize a little more swimming or running beforehand (we were totally unprepared but no biggie) .

Liz is such a good sport, entering our life with gusto and totally rolling with the mania. Great to have her stay last weekend- fun for everyone. And I sure enjoyed some laughs.

birthday party

Fun and chaotic and i'm so glad we are all cleaned up. Poured for first half but was infinitely easier once the sun came out and the kids played in the backyard.  6 tomorrow!

little sucker

Finn got a fun new toy for his birthday and last night glen found a new use...

He was pretty excited about turning 2. Still tells everyone who will listen it is his birthday and he had birthday cake.

face-paint

Almost 2 and almost 6! Finny went for his first face-paint and she picked this bunny for him (he loves bunnies) and she painted a carrot on his finger. And Elliott is Pikachu.

soccer tournament!

The first of many, I assume. Elliott loved it and had lots of fun. He is starting to form new friendships, and hone his soccer skills. But nothing was as great as how high his confidence soared when he got his first goal.

Spark...

Best science center- we are so impressed Calgary. Boys has an awesome time. Next visit, finny will be older yet and we can stay longer.  And best, our $60 a year Big Little Center family pass got us in for free!

hanging out

Visiting Uncle Fred in Calgary and having a fun time. The traveling here was NOT fun, however everything else has been great. The boys love George- and they normally are very afraid.  We also went to the Zoo this morning- awesome.

soccer has started..

I don't think there could be a more enthusiastic player. Elliott is soccer crazy. I'm not so crazy about the schedule but small price for enthusiasm.
